Carolyn Curry is an accomplished vocalist, pianist and songwriter. A teacher, performer and music director in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Carolyn is a part-time instructor at St Francis Xavier University, where she teaches songwriting and leads the a cappella ensemble. She has a Master of Music in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas, 2011-13 and has since performed and recorded with ECMA nominated funk group Unidentified Funk Object, and its spin-off children's music project, Dr G Goes to Space! Her musical adaptation of Russian fairy tale "Tsarevitch Ivan, The Firebird and The Grey Wolf" was produced by Terra Novella Theatre in 2019 as "Firebird: the Musical". Carolyn also sings with Halifax's ABBA cover band Dancing Queen. 



Carolyn’s time at UNT has afforded her many opportunities, including attending and participating in master classes by Kurt Elling, Peter Eldridge, Jay Clayton and Carol Welsman. While attending St Francis Xavier University for her undergraduate studies, Carolyn received private instruction from the likes of Roberta Gambarini, and David Scott of Vocalogy, as well as Master Classes with Sunny Wilkinson, Tena Palmer, Wendy Nielsen and Canadian vocal group Cadence. In the summer of 2011, she participated in Newfoundland’s Festival 500, as a member of St FX’s vocal group Extra, attending master classes and workshops by Finnish vocal group, Rajaton as well as Bob Chilcott, formerly of The King’s Singers.
